NTAPA’s first live model low lighting shooting class was done on Saturday afternoon, July 14, 2007, under Master Davie Hsu’s solo arrangement and instructions. It was a fresh try, but it was well accepted by all members who attended the event.
The learning of low light shooting is the key. David requested no flash lights in the class.
A number of members called or emailed me after the program, showing their appreciation for the occasion. We hope soon we will have a second session.
Comment from Dr. Lai:
The Live Model Shooting Class was a very helpful and beneficial activity to most of our members. At least our Master Lai likes it very much and urges to have more similar events in the future. As I mentioned earlier, Dr. Lai feels portrait is a very important subject to photographers.

Email from a lady member:
Model shooting was fun! I never took numerous pictures for same person at same period of time before. Sounds crazy too! The young girl is a quiet skinny student, a little nerves, seldom smile in front of so many lenses. I saw Dr. Lai catch a good moment for her eyes expression . The other one looked like a juicy peach (【俚】特別惹人喜愛的人;漂亮的女孩)! Everyone got good shoots!!
I kept the one I shoot from her back; she had a very soft and sexy neck and should lines! Since she had been so busy about her posture before cameras, she forgot her back! The muscles there were relax and natural.
Model shooting is good but variety could be more fun!!
Comment from a gentleman:
I have learned low light shooting techniques: camera against light background without flash. Before this will for sure always give me a total black face of the person, can see nothing. Now I can see her face details without using the flashing, a big step accomplishment for myself!
Email from the President:
It was a great lesson for sure. I learn a lot myself too. Thanks to David and Dr. Lai.
Email from our Master Hsu:
You missed the good one. These scenes are in and out daily which are around us all the time. Everybody can take nice photos if he or she has the sense to catch it. If that’s the case I’ll work harder to share what I have to our friends.
I have told our members to summit the electric files (burned on a CD ROM) to Wei-May (唯美文化), Mr. Walter Hsu. I’ll organize the final and give to the models as a complimentary.
Good luck and enjoy the beautiful life!
